The Beginning...

It all started in 1984 when Dave (Bundy) Thomas was looking for a bass player to join HIS band. I agreed and the Chunky bit' saga was under way. Tom Sabo and Andy Gallant were later recruits. The result was the highly charged and explosive Safor tapes. Recorded in the summer of 1985 this tape was the result of 8 months of solid rehearsal. Meanwhile Jimmy (Big Don) Greenaway was just deciding that drumming was for him. After buying Clark Hajji's kit he proceeded to become the self taught dynamo that he is today. When the Band-Shite parted ways in 1987 Gary, Bundy, Tom and Andy drifted in and out of bands for the next 8 years! In the meantime Big Don was fine tuning his Kraft of choice, pun intended. When Chunky Bit' officially formed in 1997 they immediately set the local and foreign club scene on fire. These guys definitely are serious about music.
Chunky bit was the whim of Bundy and Gary. Big Don agreed but only if we jammed at his house.

What followed was a series of negotiations in order to secure the salaries of Bundy and Gary. This would involve countless lawyers and would eventually take 2 years to resolve. Once settled, the band started rehearsals in a manic fashion, knocking off 15 songs in 3 hours! Needless to say this arrangement would work quite well in the coming years.

The guitarist of the group, Dave (King Kong Bundy) Thomas was not musically gifted as a youth but is a true testament to hard work and determination. Never believing for a moment that he couldn’t be a shredder, he proceeded to practice upwards of 10 hours a day! Of course he never turned down an offer to tilt a few wobbly pops and cut into his wood shedding time!

This of course would lead to thestyle known as chromatic madness and once you've heard it, you never forget it! If you've ever heard Alex
Skolnik then you know his style... Big Don or Theron if you must is a contrast in style and technique. He is a firm believer in freestyle drumming and timing. Not as studious as Bundy, or as drunken, Big Don is easy going and outgoing. Whilst Bundy was being a hermit, Theron was hanging out at pool halls and Streetsville car bashes. It is amazing that Bundy (Dave) was able to build up a tolerance to alcohol!!!
